Floyd A. Ingles

Floyd A. Ingles, 84, of Waukon, IA, passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2026, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on August 16, 1941, to Arthur (Cy) Richardson Ingles and Vivian Evelyn White. A celebration of life is being held on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at the Empty Nest Winery in rural Waukon. The open house will be from 1-5 PM.

Floyd graduated from Waukon High School in 1959 and later married Arlene ReVoir of Lansing on April 16, 1966. This was the beginning of 60 years of sharing beautiful memories, raising their children and then growing old together — lives richly blessed. He was a loving father to Kevin, Kristy and Jason and adored all of his family.

After working for Wright Tree Service trimming trees, he then worked as a heavy equipment operator building many roads in the tri-state area. He then started his own logging business which he enjoyed for many years. He ended his working career as a car salesman for Sullivan’s West Side Auto. Cars and mechanical knowledge were in his Ingles bloodline, and he learned a lot from his father at “Art’s Garage”. He could tell you about most every car on the road in great detail. He then got into stock car driving when the races began in Waukon. Early interests were hunting, fishing, hunting mushrooms and boating on the Mississippi. He was an excellent all-around athlete and passed on his sporting abilities to his son Jason, and never missed any of his ball games.

Another lifelong interest was music. He knew the words to thousands of songs over the years and had a pitch perfect singing voice. Probably could have been a Grand Ole Opry star as he sounded better than many of the artists.

He was a man gifted with many natural talents and abilities. His “Ingles gift of gab” endeared him to many as he loved to talk to people. He was always kind and generous, ready to help and encourage others. Not only was he physically strong, he was spiritually strong as well. In 1997, he was baptized as a Jehovah’s Witness and was an active member of the Waukon Congregation of Jehovah Witnesses, serving as a Ministerial Servant.

As Arlene was the Allamakee County nurse for 30 years and he bought timber from local farmers, they both knew many people and enjoyed traveling the roads and hills of the county. They appreciated the beauty of nature and in retirement enjoyed gardening and yard work.

He is survived by his wife Arlene, children Kevin (Linda) Ingles of Cedar Rapids, Kristy (Tim) Welch of Waukon, and Jason (Joy) Ingles of Waterloo. Grandchildren include Amy (Meritt) Stastny, Jeff Ingles, James Welch, Gracee Welch, Katie (Chad) Ramey, and Eric Miller. Great grandchildren include Jake Ingles, Quinn Stastny, Vivian Stastny, Violet Ramey and Evelyn Ramey.

Surviving siblings include Evelyn Honn, Betty (Lester) Stahl, Bob (Joan) Ingles, and Deb (Jeff) Golfis along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Art and Vivian Ingles, an infant sister, Deloras, along with his in-laws Howard and Martha ReVoir.
