Donald Paul Neely
Donald Paul Neely, 72, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2026, in Des Moines, Iowa.
Don was born on August 6, 1953, in Boone, Iowa. At just 17 years old, he enlisted in the United States Army and served his country in Vietnam. His strength and loyalty remained evident throughout his life.
Don had a passion for life’s simple joys. He was a devoted Chicago Cubs fan and was overjoyed to witness their historic World Series victory in 2016. He took tremendous pride in his beautiful yard and enjoyed gardening and caring for his home. He also loved his cars, especially his B5 Blue Challenger and his black Charger, which brought him great happiness and pride.
One of the greatest blessings of Don’s life was the lifelong friendship he shared with his best friend, Greg. Together they created countless memories and shared infinite great times throughout the years.
Don will be remembered for his love of his wife, Jenny, his loyal friendships, his pride in the things he cherished, and the strength he carried throughout his life. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Don is survived by his loving wife, Jenny Murphy; his sister, Kathy Asher (Chuck); his brother, Steve; and his nephew, Justin. He also leaves behind his beloved dogs, Gunner, Abby, and Stella, whom he loved dearly and cared for as family.
Plans for a memorial service will be announced at a later date.
