John Arthur Borsdorf

John Arthur Borsdorf, 83, of Wellman, IA, passed away on Sunday, March 15th, 2026, after a prolonged illness.

John was born on August 16th, 1942, in Fairfield, IA, the son of Charles Borsdorf and Cora (Lambert-Borsdorf-Whitehead) On June 17th, 1976, John and Janet Rae Borsdorf were united in marriage. 

John graduated from Washington High School in 1962. John was a proud member of the U.S. Army. He was on the Mechanized Infantry Vehicle Maintenance crew while stationed in Germany, the U.S. Army Aviation Corp in South Vietnam, and the U.S. Army Aviation Corp in Fort Rucker, Alabama. 

For serving his country he received many accolades, including the U.S. Army Commendation Medal, two Purple Hearts, the Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Star, and Valorous Service Medal. After his many years of service, he worked and retired as a maintenance electrician at Crane Co. in Washington, IA. He then continued to work at the Holiday Inn in Little Amana doing maintenance until his final retirement. He loved traveling with his family, collecting coins, hunting, and fishing.

John is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Janet; his sister, Darlene Hebling (Jim) of Mt. Pleasant, IA; his children, Suzi Borsdorf (Ron) of Wellman, IA, Anthony Dunbar (Tracy) of Zephyrhills, FL, Timothy Dunbar (Joyce) of Wyman, IA, and Kimberly Naas (Lee) of Grand Meadow, MN, and many loved grandchildren & great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held on March 30th,2026, at 10:00 am, at The Baptist Church in Wellman, IA. Burial will follow at The Keota Cemetery at 11:30 am.
