Jerome "Bud" Keith Siebrecht

Jerome Keith “Bud” Siebrecht, son of Valmah H. Siebrecht and Magdalene M. (Thiese) Siebrecht, was born 14 September 1937 on the family farm in Clayton County Iowa. He was Baptized on 24 October 1937 at Trinity Lutheran, Guttenberg Iowa. On 13 May 1951 he Affirmed his faith at Our Redeemer Lutheran, Elkader Iowa.

Jerome grew up on the family farm. He attended country school in Clayton Center and high school in Garnavillo, graduating in 1955.

In 1956 he entered the Air Force and served with honor in Morocco, North Africa and Mountain Home, Idaho. He was Honorably Discharged October, 1960.

On 16 April 1961, he married Judy Cook at St. Paul Lutheran in Garnavillo, Iowa. This union was blessed with two children, Jed James and Jill Karen.

Bud farmed with his family for several years, worked at the carpenter trade for some time, and hauled eggs. He then worked with the Soil Conservation Service until he retired in October 1997.

Bud loved his family, enjoyed riding and driving his horses, hunting, the beauty and mystery of Nature, and Life itself.

*The preceding was written by Dad. But he left out a few things. With his carpentry skills, he built on to the barn, the house and remodeled a shack into our home. He also practiced his SCS knowledge on his own property by installing terraces, dikes, grass strips, dormant ground, wind breaks and tree restoration. His greatest pride was in his horses. At age 11 he received Sam, which he had for nearly 30 years. Along with his Uncle Cliff, he was a member of “Flying Hoof Quadrille”, a troupe that performed square dancing on horseback. Throughout his life he had teams and saddle horses. Go now on your final Ride, Dad.

Dad passed away on Tuesday March 3, 2026 at Stoney Brook Village, West Union, with his family by his side.

He leaves behind his son, Jed (Lori) Siebrecht and daughter, Jill (David) Swope, both of Clermont, Iowa; his grandchildren, Jared (Cassie) Siebrecht , Jenna (Nick) Stortz, Heidi (Erik) Schumacher, Joshua (Stephanie) Swope, Ryan (Donna) Swope; his great-grandchildren, Keaton, Kolter, Emma, Kaia, Lyla, Sawyer, Eva, Jasper, Evan, Klaus, Mason, Abel, and Brodie; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Valene (Keith) Lau and Sharon (Howard) Keehner, and his brother Cheryl “Chuck” (Elaine) (Jane) Siebrecht.

The family would like to thank the Stoney Brook staff for the excellent care they gave our dad for over four years, and the Palmer Hospice Team for the comfort and dignity extended until his last Trail Ride.

Memorials can be directed to Wounded Warrior Project and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, two of Dad’s Charities. Also, the Clermont EMS, who gifted us with an additional 43 years with Dad.
