James “Jim” Warren Funk II

James “Jim” Warren Funk II, 83, of Cedar Rapids, IA, passed peacefully with his family at 12:30 PM, Sunday, March 8th, 2026, at The Gardens of Cedar Rapids. 

Jim was born December 31st, 1942, in Waynesburg, PA, son of James “Warren” Funk and Clara “Tilly” Funk, graduating from Waynesburg Central High School. Jim lived in Cedar Rapids most of his adult life since leaving the military as an Army Morse Code Interpreter Seargent in Germany in the 1960’s. 

Jim joined Square D in 1969, spending several decades holding multiple positions within the company until his retirement from the Square D brand, Schneider Electric company, in 2002. 

In retirement, Jim had a real passion for anything mechanical, having a fixation for American cars, anywhere from newer Cadillacs to classic Corvettes, owning several during his lifetime.
 
Surviving is a sister Deborah DiBenedetto of Pittsburg, PA a son, Shane and wife Janelle Funk from Atlanta, GA, a son Dan and wife Toni Voss of Kansas City, MO, a grandson and wife Jon and Clare of Baltimore, MD, and a granddaughter Nicole of Kansas City, KS. 

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Warren and Tilly Funk, and a brother Richard Funk. 

In the coming months, a final resting ceremony next to his family will take place in Waynesburg, PA.
