Elden Roger Moon

Elden Roger Moon, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away on March 12, 2026, at the age of 101.

Born on October 19, 1924, in Hesper, Iowa, the son of Arthur and Inez (Rowe) Moon, Elden was brought up with good Midwest values and a deep-rooted respect for education.

Elden was a veteran of the United States Navy in WWII.

It was in Scranton, Iowa, on December 16, 1945, Elden married Arlene Hazel Clark. Their union was a testament to enduring love having spent 80 plus years in marriage.

Elden earned a Doctorate in Education which laid the foundation for his career as an educator, teacher, and administrator in Amana and the Cedar Rapids School District.

Elden is survived by his wife, Arlene, their children Nicki (Jim) and Jeff (Lisa), grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Elden was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Inez Moon and his granddaughter Alexandra.

Elden was a member of St. Marks United Methodist Church.

He was a man of many interests and talents, finding joy in bridge, woodworking, and playing tennis and golf. Fishing and hunting provided him with a peaceful escape. Time spent with family was his greatest treasure.

In keeping with Elden's wishes, a private family ceremony will be held to celebrate his life. We take solace in knowing that Elden's spirit lives on in the love and laughter of those he leaves behind.
