Daniel Hanover
Daniel Hanover, 77, of Brooklyn, Iowa, at Holiday Lake, went to heaven on March 9, 2026, after a battle with cancer.
Dan was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Clayton and Dorris Hanover. He participated in speed skating with his siblings, Larry and Barb, at Robins Lake (now Ellis Rink). He and his family competed all of the Midwest with the Cedar Rapids Ice Skating Association. He attended Fillmore Grade School, Roosevelt Junior High and Jefferson High School. He wrestled for the J-Hawks. After graduation, he enlisted in the Army. Durning basic training, he married Janet Oujiri, while on leave in Hawaii. They later divorced. He served in Vietnam, was wounded and discharged with honors and received a Purple Heart.
Dan was a member of the Carpenters Union working in Cedar Rapids and Florida for many years. He spent many years with his sweetie Lynda Griffith. They enjoyed having family visit them at Holiday Lake for the fireworks. Dan and Lynda wintered in Texas.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Clayton and Dorris Hanover, and brothers-in-law, Craig Hopkins and Jerry Richardson. Dan is survived by his siblings, Larry (Robin) Hanover, Barbara Richardson; niece, Wendy (Dudley) Fleck; nephews, Todd (Libby) Richardson, Brett (Lisa) Richardson, his longtime companion, Lynda, along with many extended family members.
We love you Daniel- until we meet again. Per Dan’s wishes, there will be no services at this time.
