Patricia (Pat) Ann Sims

Patricia (Pat) Ann Beach Sims was born on July 21, 1940, in Eldora, Iowa, to Lola Ruth Wooten Beach and Paul Willard Beach. She passed away on June 28, 2026, at her home.

Pat was raised on the Beach family farm southwest of New Providence, Iowa. She loved helping her parents with the many tasks involved in farm life.

She graduated from New Providence High School in 1958 and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Upper Iowa University in Fayette, Iowa, in 1962.

In the fall of 1962, Pat began her teaching career at West Elementary School in Iowa Falls, Iowa.

On July 4, 1964, Pat was united in marriage to Larry Sims at the First Congregational Church in Iowa Falls. Together, they became the parents of two daughters.

Later that fall, Larry and Pat moved to Churdan, Iowa, where they both began teaching careers. Pat taught first grade and later served as a substitute teacher and volunteer at the Paton-Churdan Community School District for approximately 55 years. She truly loved working with children and dedicated much of her life to education.

Pat was baptized at the First Baptist Church of Churdan. Her life was centered on faith, family, and service to others. She devoted herself to her family, church, and community, and her kindness, generosity, and steadfast faith touched the lives of all. Her grandchildren were the light of her life.

Pat is survived by her husband, Larry Sims of Churdan, Iowa; her daughters, Tanya Sims of Jefferson, Iowa, and Chante (Brandon) Huen of Slater, Iowa; and her grandchildren, Reece (Bella) Huen of Ankeny, Iowa, and Brynna Huen of Slater, Iowa.

Visitation will be from 5:00pm-8:00pm, Thursday, July 2, 2026, at the First Baptist Church on 700 N St. Churdan, IA, 50050.

Service will be at 10:00am, Friday, July 3, 2026, at the First Baptist Church on 700 N St. Churdan, IA, 50050.
