Marjorie Mae (Booker) Angelo
Marjorie Mae (Booker) Angelo was born in Des Moines, IA on November 26, 1931 and passed away at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines on June 6, 2026 at the age of 94. She was the youngest child of Lonnie and Elizabeth Booker. She is predeceased by her parents and her older brothers, Hobie, LaMar (Dee), Ralph, Tom, and James.
Marjorie graduated from East High School. She joined the U.S. Navy (WAVES) and was stationed in San Diego, CA, where she met and married her first husband, Donald S. Morton.
She was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1961 and was happy to share the good news of God's Kingdom with others. Her favorite scripture was Revelation 21:4.
She was blessed with two sons, Donald S. Morton, Jr. and Sheldon J. Morton. Don lives in Oklahoma City, OK and Sheldon lives in Des Moines, where he has been her caretaker for the past 7 years.
Marjorie went to beauty school and worked as a hairdresser for several years. She later attended DMACC and became a nurse. She worked at Broadlawns Hospital, MIDAC, the VA Hospital in Knoxville, and several nursing homes. Upon retirement from nursing, she worked at Metro Kids, an after-school program.
On August 29, 1987, Marjorie married Leo Angelo. They enjoyed gardening together and caring for their cats and dogs. Her love of animals and passion for nursing allowed many of their dear pets to live to a ripe old age. Her husband, Leo, died May 25, 2019.
Survivors include her sons, Don and Sheldon; daughter-in-law, Kathy; grandson, Chad; great-granddaughter, Alena; and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 3:30 PM Saturday, June 13, 2026, at the Union Park Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1418 E. Washington, Des Moines, IA.
