Inga Lorraine Hanson
Inga Lorraine Hanson, 77, of West Union, Iowa, passed away on Monday, June 15, 2026, following a brief illness.
Inga was born on November 24, 1948, in Postville, Iowa, to Bernard and Alma (Opsand) Hanson. She was raised in northeast Iowa and graduated from Valley High School in 1967. During her high school years, she excelled in athletics and was honored as a member of the 1967 Iowa Girls High School State Basketball All-Tournament Team.
Following high school, Inga attended Wartburg College before earning her bachelor’s degree in Home Economics Education from Iowa State University in 1971. She taught Home Economics for several years in the Midwest and utilized her education, talents, and skills throughout her various occupations and endeavors in life.
Inga was baptized and confirmed at East Clermont Lutheran Church and most recently attended Zion Lutheran Church in West Union, Iowa. Her life was centered on faith, family, and service to others. She devoted herself to her family, church, and community, and her kindness, generosity, and steadfast faith touched the lives of all who knew her, especially her many nieces and nephews.
Those left to cherish her memory include her siblings, Harold (LeAnna) Hanson, Margaret Suhr, Elsie (Kevin) Walsh, Enoch (Gina) Hanson, Albert (Trudy) Hanson, and Cora (Gary) Elrod; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Alma Hanson; her sisters, Sylvia Feigenspan and Randine Evenson; her brother, Paul Hanson; brothers-in-law, Harley Evenson and Dale Suhr; sister-in-law, Judy Hanson; a niece, Sarah Hanson; a nephew, Ben Elrod; and her grandparents.
