Vincent Lee Burroughs
Vincent (Vince) Lee Burroughs, 78, of Wellman, Iowa, passed away on July 18, 2026, after experiencing complications from a stroke. Vincent was born on January 6, 1948, to Jesse and Ethel (Elkins) Burroughs in Clarinda, IA. He spent his younger years in Yorktown where he lived with his family until the tornado in 1964. He shared many fond memories of his time there, especially those with his best friend Gerhard and his dog. Following the tornado, the family relocated to Coin and Vince graduated from South Page High School in 1967. On October 15, 1967, Vince and Junell (Clark) were united in marriage and made their home in Corning, Iowa. Vince worked as a mechanic in Corning and eventually at Buckwalter Motors in Wellman, Iowa from 1973-1998 when the dealership closed. He wrapped up his career as a mechanic at Rediger Tire in Kalona, Iowa. Throughout his career he achieved many ASE and General Motors certifications and was a highly valued mechanic.
Vince and Junell built their house in Wellman in 1974 and took great pride in living there for over 50 years. They raised three children there, Clark, Brenda and Jessica. Vince enjoyed camping, working with his hands and rebuilding cars. He had a knack for creating things out of necessity.
Vince was preceded in death by his wife, Junell Burroughs of almost 58 years; his parents, Jesse and Ethel Burroughs; brothers, Jay Burroughs and Marion Burroughs and sisters, Patty (Alvin) Baker, Rose (Winfred) Harms, Gerry (Ed) Major, Leona (Robert) Clark, Jeanne (Charles) Williams, and one grandchild, Aaron Lee Overholt.
Vincent is survived by his children; Clark (Carla Burns) Burroughs of Ankeny, Iowa, Brenda (Ray) Overholt of Wellman, Iowa and Jess (Tom) Burger of West Branch, Iowa; his grandchildren; Paitin Burroughs, Seth Burroughs, Kelby (Maddy Hatfield) Burger, Cooper Burger, and Teresa Overholt; his sister, Shirley Thomas, sister-in-law Caroline Burroughs and many nieces and nephews.
A private family burial will be held. Memorials can be directed to the family.
