Mitzie Pauline Carr
Mitzie Pauline Carr, 91, of Charles City, Iowa passed away peacefully on July 13, 2026, at Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City, Iowa.
Mitzie was born October 23, 1934, to Oscar Immer and Pauline (Tornow) Immer in rural Charles City. The family, house and all, moved to Charles City and Mitzie grew up on Cedar Street with her younger brother Edward Immer. Mitzie graduated from Charles City High School in 1952. On August 11, 1956, she was united in marriage to Marvin Carr at Central Methodist Church in Charles City and they enjoyed 66 years together.
Mitzie’s working life was at First Security Bank in Charles City. In retirement, she loved to paint decorative items, crochet, sew, tend her flower gardens and watch sports. Until she became home-bound, Mitzie volunteered through the Foster Grandparent program with Charles City Schools and was a devoted servant through her faith community. She will always be remembered for her artistic talents and her abundant trays of Christmas treats, especially the molasses cookies.
She is survived by her sons, Brian (Teresa) of Cedar Falls, Iowa and Bruce (Linda) of Floyd, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Jeff (Amanda Beitz) Carr, Meghan (Casey) Mallory, Christie (Tyson) Roberts, Justin (Chelsea) Carr, Hannah (Taylor) Kemp, Josiah Carr, and Brodie Carr. Her 15 great-grandchildren are Oscar Carr, Eliza, Ezmae and Everly Mallory, Micah and Hazel Roberts, Elliot, Andie and Charlie Carr, Juliet, Lincoln and Lucy Kemp and Ellie, Carter and Robert Beitz.
Preceding her in death are her parents, Oscar and Pauline Immer, brother Ed Immer and husband Marvin.
