Michael Allen Frazer
Michael Allen Frazer, 79, of Oelwein, IA, passed away on July 19, 2026. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Michael was born on July 18, 1947, to Dell and Ruth (Coselman) Frazer in Oelwein, IA. After graduating from Oelwein High School, he enlisted in the Navy and served from 1964 to 1968. He then attended boot camp in San Diego. He was on duty on North Island, supplying for 1 year and 13 months in Alaska SSE. He later served on the USS Yorktown at Long Beach as a fuels tech. While on tour, they were involved in the USS Pueblo incident in the North Korea Sea.
After serving his country, he found the love of his life. On June 19, 1971, Michael and Jean (Aswegan) were united in marriage. They went on to have two children: Regina (Frazer) Larsen and Greg Frazer, both of Oelwein.
He loved to hunt, fish, and play golf. After his grandkids were born, he loved to take family trips to Volga and go fishing. He made sure they had the same passion for fishing as he did. Another favorite of his was sitting on his deck and grilling out while listening to oldies but goodies music, getting the kids into dancing and singing to it all. They would all cuddle up, just listening to music and staring at the stars. It didn't matter if it was too hot or too cold; it was the memory with their grandfather that they will cherish forever.
He was honored with a pin for 60 years of service to the American Legion and was surprised with Quilts of Valor. His favorite holiday was the 4th of July. After finishing at the breakfast at the Legion, he would go straight out to Oelwein City Park to make sure he got the best seat to watch the fireworks, and that is where you could find him for the rest of the day.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dell and Ruth Frazer, and his two brothers, Patrick and Warner Frazer.
Michael is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Jean Frazer; his children, Regina (Frazer) Larsen and Greg Frazer; his grandchildren, Ashley (Frazer) Rubino, Zackery Frazer, Katie Frazer, Alexander Frazer, Damian Frazer, and Darian Frazer; and 13 great-grandchildren.
