Lyle "Butch" E. Scott, Jr.
Lyle E “Butch” Scott Jr, 72, of Stout, passed away Sunday July 5, 2026, at his home. The Celebration of Life will be Saturday July 18, 2026, at 2:00 pm, at the AMVETS Post 49 in Cedar Falls.
Lyle was born on October 5, 1953, in Cedar Falls, to Lyle E Scott Sr and Evelyn Scott. He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1972-1974 during the Vietnam War aboard the USS Coral Sea CVA-43 Aircraft Carrier. On June 12, 1976, he married the love of his life, Valinda (Lewis) Scott, and a son Jeremy was welcomed in the family later. He was a member of the Shriners Club Oriental Band and Cruizer. He served as a member of the Honor Guard for AMVETS Post 49, and a member of American Legion 138. He enjoyed cribbage at The Post, the Walk Club at the mall, and mostly riding his Harley, alone or with family, friends and buddies.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Valinda, son, Jeremy (Sara) Scott, of Aplington. Sisters, Etta Ridder, Rita McClintock, and Pam (Daryl) Hansen, and a brother, Mike (Rachael) Scott. Brother in-law, Mike (Sheryl) Lewis, sister in-law, Pat Hannah, along with many nieces and nephews, and great grand kids.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lyle Scott Sr and Evelyn (Ostendorf) Schmidt, sister, Sylvia (Leroy) Corwin, brother, Ralph Scott. Stepfather, Cliff Schmidt, brothers’ in-law, Jim McClintock and Lynn Hannah, sisters’ in-law, Kathy Vanlieu, and Janice Carpenter.
