Nancy K. Woodruff-Rickard
Nancy K. Woodruff-Rickard age 85 of Delhi Iowa passed away Thursday, January 8 at University of Iowa Hospital.
She was born December 24, 1940 daughter of Harold and Marion Doyle. She had various jobs over the years in the Cedar Valley, including many years spent at the IA State Extension office and Head Start until her retirement. She married Claude “CR” Woodruff and they later divorced. She later married Leon Rickard who proceeded her in death.
She is survived by a son, Tony, a daughter, Tonya (Kent) Smith, grandchildren, Trisha (Mike) Weisert, Tara Smith (Corey Frickson), Austin (Jaycie) Goddard, Kody Smith (Veronica Coghlan), great grandkids Ivory, Kingstin, Daxton, Adilynn, Hayes, Kobe, with one more on the way, nieces Jill and Jan, her nephew Bret, and her beloved dog Cheetah.
She is proceeded in death by her parents and her sister Joanne.
Nancy was known for her confidence in faith, family, and friends. She loved her family very deeply. She forgave easily and endlessly found the good in everyone and everything. She was known for her style as well and was most commonly seen wearing any combination of animal prints, including, but not limited to leopard cheetah and zebra. She was rarely seen without her hair done and her face “On” and of course no face was complete without a little lip color. Nancy and Leon would eventually leave Waterloo and make their summer place in Delhi their full-time home and enjoyed many days in the sun and on the pontoon or on the jet ski.
Her kindness and infectious positivity touched everyone she met. She easily made friends everywhere she went and always had words of wisdom to share.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends, and really by anyone who had the pleasure of ever meeting her.
Please join our family as we celebrate her life on Saturday, March 7 at Lofty’s in Evansdale 1-4pm.
“I love you, a bushel and a peck, a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck”
