Obituary for Kenneth Ray DeKlotz

Kenneth Ray DeKlotz, 95, of Marion, died Thursday, Jan 1st at Grand Living of Indian Creek in Marion .  Memorial services and Celebration of life will be held spring of 2026.  Private Burial Services for family at a later date.

Survivors include his children Debbi (Daniel) Washburn of Marion, Iowa and David (Sherry) DeKlotz of Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri, grandchildren: Andrew Washburn (Samantha), Leah (Curt) Buckles, Nichole (Ryan) Holze, and Samantha (Michael) O’Connor.  Great Grandchildren include Luke and Lucy Holze, Kayleigh O’Conner and Lila Washburn.  He is survived by his brother-in-law Allan (Lee) Eggers and sisters-in-law Cindy Jennings and Cathy (Joe) Humeniak. He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara DeKlotz, his son Randy DeKlotz and parents Minnie and Ed DeKlotz.

Ken was born on August 17, 1930, in Shellsburg, Iowa, the son of Minne and Ed DeKlotz. He married Barbara Eggers on Jan 7, 1951, in Keystone, Iowa. He worked at Collins Radio retiring 38 years ago.  Ken was a member of St Paul’s Lutheran Church and involved in many singing events and fundraisers in Delhi Iowa. He enjoyed anything with music and loved going to TCR musicals, watching Lawrence Welk reruns, and was an avid Hawkeye fan. His pride and joy were his children and grandchildren.  He will always be remembered at Delhi by his signature call on the river. 

There is no tragedy in the death of a 95 year-old-man who lived a healthy, wonderful, and prosperous life but our grief is unavoidable.  It has been devastating to watch this loving; kind man be robbed of his intelligence and memories.  We must all remember the family gatherings, the special occasions when we were together laughing and cheering each other on with wine and drinks.  It was truly one big party with Ken and Barbie.  May we find peace knowing that they are together again ‘the love birds’ dancing together in heavens eternity.
