She was born on August 27, 1937, in Dubuque, IA to Emory and Dorothy (Redfern) Smith. Janet worked as clerk for J.C. Penney and then Younkers both in Cedar Rapids for several years. Janet loved to laugh and loved to be surrounded by cats of many types. She loved to spend time with her family and was loved by all.
Janet is survived by her children, Kathy (Randy) McNeal, Jeff (Kathy) Vincent and Paula (Steve) Sloan; grandchildren, Nathan (Romina) Gilds, Nicole (Eddie) Melendez, Laura (Nate) Heater, Amanda Vincent and Jenna Sloan; great-grandchildren; Nael Jadoon and Liam Heater; siblings, Shirley (the late George) Bishop; and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Dean Martensen; her parents; and brother, David Smith.
