Fred Buck, 68, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on January 9, 2026, after a short battle with cancer. He was born on May 8, 1957, in Cedar Rapids.
Fred was known for his kindness, sense of humor, and unmistakable big smile. He was a devoted husband and father who took great pride in raising his family. He believed in treating people fairly and instilled the importance of staying active and caring for others. In his younger years, Fred enjoyed playing basketball and fishing, and throughout his life he was an avid sports fan, especially of the NFL, NBA, and college football. Above all, he cherished time spent with family and friends.
He is survived by his children, Darrick and Shantro; his siblings, Muriel, Jerome, John, Hope, and Patricia; and his grandchildren, Andrew, Dylan, and Tyler, along with many other loved ones. He was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene; his mom, Olivia; and his two siblings, Buckie and Terry.
A service will be held in Cedar Rapids in the spring of 2026. Details will be shared once arrangements are finalized.
