Darlys Krull

Darlys Krull, 79, of Greene, Iowa, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of cherished memories and a legacy rooted in love, devotion, and quiet strength.

Darlys Marzen was born on November 6, 1946, on her parents’ farm in rural Greene, Iowa, to Ed and Inez Marzen. One of eight Marzen children, Darlys grew up helping on the family farm and later shared many colorful stories from those early years.

Darlys attended Saint Mary’s Academy and Greene Community High School graduating in 1964. A memorable chapter of her life began when Garry Krull asked her out on a date. The two drove to Clear Lake, Iowa, in his ’55 Chevy to see Johnny Cash perform at the Surf Ballroom. Darlys and Garry were married on October 24, 1964, and recently celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary. Together, they built a beautiful life, raising two children, Lisa and John, and making their home on an acreage just outside Greene.

Darlys was a remarkably hard worker who took great pride in her home. She was known for her meticulous care, incredible cooking, spotless house, and love of flowers. While she poured herself into caring for others, her greatest joy came from time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Darlys is survived by her loving husband, Garry Krull; her children, Lisa (Rick) Landers of Bristow, Iowa, and John (Ranae) Krull of Oregon, Wisconsin; grandchildren Nick (Brooke) Landers of Greene, Kyle Landers of Greene, John (Kate) Landers of Bristow, Ryan Krull of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Will Krull of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, and Lane Krull of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin; and her treasured great-grandchildren Harper, Mya, and Emma Landers. She is also survived by her siblings Pat Kilby, Dixie Johnson, Mike Marzen, Audrey Smith, Jerome Marzen, and John Marzen, along with many extended family members and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Inez (Franke) Marzen; her sister Sue Smid; her in-laws George and Berniece Krull; and her brother-in-law Larry Krull.

Above all else, Darlys will be remembered for her unwavering devotion to her family and her selfless generosity. Her love was steady, unconditional, and deeply felt by all who knew her. Darlys Krull will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
