Connie McCallum
“Connie” Marie Constance Gisele LeBlanc McCallum was born on July 17, 1942, in Biddeford, Maine to Mandoza and Lucienne (Guay) LeBlanc. She was the wife of the late Michael Wade McCallum.
Connie grew up in Old Orchard Beach, Maine, surrounded by a large loving family, with her two sisters, her brother, many aunts, uncles and cousins. Connie attended O.O.B. High School, after high school she married Michael McCallum. Together they welcomed two daughters and a son before later parting ways.
Connie met Jack Murphy and moved to Braintree, Massachusetts. where they made their home and had a son and two daughters before their marriage ended. While in Massachusetts, Connie attended culinary school and obtained a culinary degree. Connie worked as a dietary supervisor at Braintree Manor for many years and worked as a cook at Mug n Muffin. She had a passion for softball and played on a company team.
Connie moved back to Maine to be with the love of her life Michael McCallum. They were remarried on September 15, 1995. Connie and Mike loved their family more than life. They enjoyed camping, fishing, ice fishing, ski mobiling and traveling. Mike never said, “ NO” to Connie instead always saying, “Ok Con” which was her license plate for years. Connie loved her time working for the Maine Turnpike Authority as a toll booth teller for several years until she and Mike retired. Connie lovingly supported and cared for her husband Mike until the end of his life.
Connie volunteered at the “VFW”( she is a lifelong member) and worked in the voting booths for many years. She also volunteered at the American Legion and the Elk’s in their snack bar on Bingo nights.
Connie always had to be busy, with her knitting, puzzle making, coloring and in the end watching her “ION” tv. She enjoyed root beer barrels which her youngest child provided for her for years.
In 2023, she moved to Iowa to be with daughter number three, child number five (this is how she would introduce her kids to her friends) who could assist her at this stage of her life. Once again making many friends and helping out her Adult Day Health Care facility.
Connie loved her husband Mike, her children, her grandchildren, her great grandchildren, nieces and nephews more than life and she meant the world to them. Connie will be truly missed.
