Carol Ann Remington Atwood, 82, of Anamosa, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2026, following an extended illness.
Carol was born to Howard and Caroline (Petersen) Remington on February 19, 1943, in Anamosa, She graduated from Anamosa High School in 1961, where she was homecoming queen. Carol worked for many years at Doerr Electric but retired from Citizens Bank in Anamosa. She loved gardening, crosswords and spending time with her family.
Survivors include sons, Brett of Ankeny IA and Mitch of Ft. Worth, TX; daughter, Cari (Wayne Petersen) of Olin; four grandchildren, Aaron Gearhart of Mesa, AZ, Lucas Atwood of Hutto, TX, Libby Atwood of Mesa, AZ, Annadale Atwood of Round Rock, TX; Carol’s first great grandchild is coming this spring; sisters, Donna (D.J.) Condry, Sharon Krousie, Merva (Jim) Carlson, and Colleen (Denny) Ireland. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her brothers, Rich, Jim, and Ron, many aunts, uncles and cousins. Also, Dale Atwood, the father of her children.
Carol will be remembered by many as kind hearted, witty, helpful and strong willed. She was a loving mom, grandma, sister, aunt and friend.
Per her wishes, she has been cremated. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date. A service celebrating her life will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Anamosa, on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at 11:00 AM. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM at the church. A luncheon in the church basement will be held immediately following the service.
