Russell Wayne Sickles, 90, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on February 18, 2026 in the comfort of his home.
Russ was born on February 26, 1935 in Fayette, Iowa to Milo and Ananda Sickles (Manchester, Iowa). Russ grew up in Manchester, Iowa. He went to Manchester Lincoln School. Growing up he landed jobs in construction. Russ married Ruth Ann Rich. From this union 4 children were born. They later divorced. He worked in the grocery store business for 43 years, spending most of his time at Nash Finch Co. In 1972, he met Linda (Thompson) and gained 2 bonus children.
In his retirement, Russ enjoyed his time on a small hobby farm in Manchester. There he enjoyed his ponies, building buggies, and tinkering with small machinery. He shared many memories with friends, family, and many grandkids and even great grandkids.
Russ is survived by his wife, Linda; children, Wayne (Jocelyn), Steve (Connie Lipman), Kathy Ann Edward, Kathy Jo West, and Brian Thompson and many grandkids and great grandkids.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Milo and Amanda; his first wife, Ruth Ann; son, Michael Sickles; sister, Betty; his brother, LaVelle; his in-laws, Luther and Ruth Thompson; and 4 sons-in-law.
