Robert LeRoy Honeywell III, 74, of New Albin, Iowa, passed away on August 2, 2026.
Bob was born on May 7, 1952, in Clinton Iowa, to Robert L Honeywell Jr and Darlene (Lange) Honeywell. A gifted athlete from an early age, Bob was standout swimmer throughout high school and college, earning and holding numerous swimming records. He proudly served his country as a veteran and later shared his love of swimming by coaching the swim team in Lansing for a time.
Bob dedicated many years of service to Yellow River State Forest before retiring. His love for nature was evident throughout his life , especially in his retirement years, which he spent surrounded by the peace and quiet of the countryside near New Albin. He found great joy in the outdoors and appreciated the simple beauty the world had to offer.
Bob had an extraordinary love for animals. There wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do to care for them. His beloved dog, Rocco, faithful cat, Michael, and the many cherished pets who came before them brought him endless companionship and happiness.
Bob is lovingly remembered by his children, Joshua (Tessa) Honeywell, and Nicole (Michael) Gibart; his son in-law Brett Dyson; sister, Susan (Paul) Chadourne of Florida; his grandchildren, Courtney Nafzger, Annabelle Dyson, Amilya Honeywell; and his great-grandson, Tanner.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Therese Honeywell, his daughters, Promise and Eowyn; his sister Jill Burbank; his brother, Frank Honeywell; and his parents, Robert L Honeywell and Darlene (Lange) Honeywell.
Funeral arrangements are pending and a Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
His love, kindness, and spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
