Rex Tomkins
Rex C. Tomkins Sr., 82, of Reinbeck, passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2026. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
Rex was born to Elmer Hovar and Mary Hubrich in Galena, Illinois. He graduated from East High School in Waterloo, Iowa. He entered the United States Air Force shortly after graduating and served for four years.
Rex was a truck driver for 40 years and was a recipient of the Million Mile Award for safe driving. He owned his own trucking company, Tomkins Trucking, and enjoyed traveling with his wife Carole during his routes.
Left to cherish Rex’s memory are his children, Rex (Hope) Tomkins Jr., Angie (Jeff) Church, Scott (Shelly) Tomkins, and stepdaughter, Terri Zahnd; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and siblings, Laura Anderson, Mike Tomkins, Tom Tomkins, and Mary Kay McClellan.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Carole Tomkins; his parents; stepson, Todd Ward; and his sister, Peggy.
