Mark Richard Meyer

Mark Richard Meyer, beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away surrounded by his family and their love on April 26, 2026.

Mark was born to Norbert and Lois Meyer on August 12, 1957, the sixth of ten kids. He was, from the start, uniquely and always himself within the Meyer family and beyond. His clever wit and dry humor were unmatched. His great brain and massive knowledge, both practical and obscure, seemed endless. His generous, caring, modest ways were always so loving. He was so very loved.

At a mere four or five years of age, Mark told Mom he couldn’t wait to start school. Pointing to his forehead, he said something like,“I’ve got a lot in here that I need to get down here” (on paper), and from there he never stopped learning. He was continuously, curiously reading and watching and exploring all he could find.

Mark proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Air Force before starting a decades-long career as an aerospace engineer at Rockwell Collins.

Mark was a rare being who touched more lives than he knew and, because of his modest, behind-the-scenes way, more lives than any of us realized. Story after story continues to surface.

He’ll be reunited now with his departed son, parents, and sister and so missed by those he leaves behind: his wife Jenifer; his sisters Nancy Tomas (Gary), Linda Meyer, Sandy Donielson (Eric), and Susan Godwin (Doug); his brothers Mike (Ginny), Dave (Michelle), Bruce (Diane), and Brian (Kathy); so many nieces, nephews, and extended family; and a close group of very good friends.

Those wishing to celebrate Mark’s life are invited to join us on Friday, May 1 from 5:00-8:00pm at the American Legion in Solon, Iowa.
