Marjorie Lucille Beggs
Marjorie Lucille Beggs died from multiple myeloma (cancer) on April 2, 2026, at her home in Bloomfield, Iowa, surrounded by her family. Per her wishes, cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
Born October 11, 1949, at home in rural Douds to Grant Joseph Taylor and Anna Lucille Taylor (Stutzman), she was welcomed by two older sisters, Phyllis and Joy. Some of her best memories of growing up include helping in the garden, playing in the creek, and riding her bike. It was always a special treat to get a piece of candy, which is maybe why there is candy everywhere in her house. One of her happiest moments during her childhood came when her baby brother, Marvin, was born.
She attended Ellis Country School until it closed, then moved to Van Buren County High School, where she graduated in 1967. Right after high school, she married James Snead on June 3, 1967. They started their home in Kansas City, Missouri, where Jim attended diesel mechanic school, then moved back to Iowa. They later divorced. From this union, four children were born: Jim, Joe, Missy, and Mindy.
She married Raymond Ritz on September 9, 1977; they later divorced. Ray passed away on September 13, 1993. She then married Jerry Beggs on April 20, 1991; he preceded her in death on September 10, 2023.
She graduated from Indian Hills Community College with her AA degree in 1988.
Marge loved to be at home reading, rearranging, crafting, cooking, and watching TV. Her favorite reads were mysteries and romances, which allowed her to go on many adventures. Her favorite things were Snoopy and collecting Coke memorabilia. Most people who ever met Mom will never forget her. For one, she would talk your ear off and share way too much personal information, which could be very embarrassing for us! Even though it was embarrassing for us, she made a memory of herself with several people because of this.
Marge leaves behind her children: James Owen Snead Jr. (Carrie); Joseph Wilbur Snead; Melissa LuAnn Harward; and Melinda Phyllis Danielson (Randy), all of Keosauqua, Iowa. Grandchildren: Curtis (Lore) Oliver, Fairfield, IA; Alexandra Snead, Fairfield, IA; Anna Snead, Lacey Snead, and Landon Harward, Keosauqua, Iowa; Isabelle Snead and Tyler Olivia Danielson, Iowa City, IA. Great-grandchildren: Jackson and Hudson Wright, and an expected grandson in May. Cats: Blossom and Charlie. Siblings: Phyllis Laughlin, Fairfield, IA; Joy Yoho (Dave), Birmingham, IA; and Marvin Taylor (Donna), Fairfield, IA; along with many nieces and nephews.
Marge was preceded in death by her parents, spouse Jerry, and two grandchildren, Hannah and Jackson Harward.
Condolences can be mailed to the family: Missy Harward, 17563 185th Rd, Keosauqua, IA 52565.
A memorial will be decided at a later date.
