Obituary for Francis Laverne Cousins

Francis Laverne Cousins, age 89, of Lincoln, Nebraska, passed away peacefully at home on April 18, 2026, at 7:29 a.m., surrounded by love and warm hands.

He was a proud United States Navy veteran who served his country faithfully for 24 years. Francis was also a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be remembered for his kind heart, strength, sense of humor, and his love for fishing and hunting. He was known for being a bit stubborn at times, but above all, he was a kind and gentle soul who would give the shirt off his back to help anyone in a moment’s notice. He touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his granddaughter, Kayla Tungate; his grandson-in-law, Ibrahim; and their three children.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Janis, with whom he is now reunited in heaven.

Francis found joy in fishing, hunting, spending time with family, movie nights with his great-grandchildren, and the simple pleasures in life. He especially enjoyed watching Fox News and drinking coffee. His presence brought comfort, love, and warmth to those around him.

He will be forever loved and never forgotten.
