Jerry Woods

Jerry Woods, 85, of St. Charles, Iowa, passed away peacefully at home on September 6, 2025.

Jerry was born April 18, 1940, in Osceola, Iowa, the son of Charles and Beatrice (McConnell) Woods. He was the middle of three children.

He graduated from Lorimor High School in 1958. After graduation, he worked for a local farming family before joining Fullerton Lumber in Lorimor.

In 1959, Jerry met his future wife, Sharon Stewart, in Winterset. The two were united in marriage on February 12, 1960, and together they raised one daughter.

Jerry proudly served in the Iowa National Guard from 1961 to 1967.

The couple made their home in Peru, Iowa, until 1978 when they moved to Winterset. Jerry worked at Circle B Cashway, Moehl Millwork, and Winterset Farm & Home. Known for his gift of gab, Jerry never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone.

In 1997, Jerry and Sharon fulfilled a dream of moving to Colorado, where they lived in Thornton, Greeley, Estes Park, and Wellington. Jerry continued his career in customer service, always enjoying helping others.

Jerry loved to build, from remodeling homes, building decks to finishing an entire basement. For “FORTY YEARS” he was always fixing something.

He also had a lifelong love of cars and passed that passion on to his daughter. He could often be found at the local car wash, proud of whichever car he owned at the time.

In 2015, Jerry and Sharon returned to Iowa and settled in St. Charles. He officially retired in 2017 after working part-time at Osceola Farm & Home.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Sharon; his daughter, Kathy Glover (Rick) of Creston; granddaughter, Madison Herrin (Tom) of Olympia, WA; grandson, Nick Glover (Amanda) of Creston; great-grandchildren, Kayden, Rylee, and Colt of Olympia, WA, and Henrik of Creston; brother, Dick Woods (Linda) of Altoona; as well as many extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Jeff Rowland; nephew, Todd Rowland; and brother-in-law, Kenneth Winebrenner.

Due to his request, no services are planned.
