William “Bill” Burton Jones
William “Bill” Burton Jones, age 75, of Clinton, IA, passed away peacefully at his home on October 6, 2025. He was born to Donagene and Dwayne Jones. In 1973, Bill married Dorothy Dithmart, with whom he shared one child, Jill.
Bill will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to his family and the joy and laughter he brought to those around him. His quick wit and clever comebacks left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
He served honorably in the United States Army as a Vietnam Veteran. Bill began working at his grandparents’ restaurant, Grayce’s Palmer House, before establishing a successful business as a sound technician for bands, also providing equipment rentals. His expertise in delivering high-quality sound and lighting earned him widespread recognition in his field.
Before his illness, Bill’s favorite pastime was working on and riding his Victory motorcycle, often joining his best friend Terry Turner for rides.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife of fifty-two years, Dorothy Jones; his daughter, Jill (Andy) Burmeister of Lost Nation; his sister, Jill Jones of California; his grandson, Dean (Mason Sims) Blinkinsop of Davenport; his niece, Donagene (William Halsey) Jones of California; brothers-in-law, Jerry Dithmart of Marion and Thomas (Juanita) Dithmart of Clinton; nephews, Garry Dithmart of Des Moines and Thomas (Cassie Dersham) Dithmart of Camanche.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Philip Jones; his nephew, Billy Jones; and his mother- and father-in-law, Mary and Garry Dithmart.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date
