David was born on August 18,1953, in Waterloo, Iowa, the 8th of 11 children born to Clyde and Marcella (Miller) Sink. He worked as a production line worker for John Deere retiring in 2010 after 38 years. He thoroughly enjoyed his retirement doing all the things he loved. The “brothers” fishing trips to Wisconsin, hunting and bee keeping with his brother-in-law, Ray, near Prairie Du Chien, a good bike ride along the Cedar Valley trails, golfing with his buddies, family cookouts, going to the apple orchards, a good pizza and sharing his unique sense of humor with those lucky enough to understand it.
David is survived by his daughter, Valerie (Nate) Herrmann; grandchildren, Stormie Priebe, Davin and Halo Herrmann all of Waterloo; his sisters, Susie (Dave) Douglas of Cedar Falls, Barb (Jim) Burns of Waterloo and Jody (Jim) Sessions of Cedar Falls; sisters-in-law Karen Sink and Vicki Sink of Cedar Falls; brother-in-law, Ray Moore of Waterloo and Dan McDougall of Dunkerton, and 32 nieces and nephews who he enjoyed seeing.
David was preceded in death by his parents; his four brothers, Tom (Karen), Jim (Vicki), Dan (Linda), and Joe; and by three sisters, Carol (Bob) Goodrich, Kathy (Ray) Moore and Betsy (Dan) McDougall.
Memorials can be made to the Battle for Betsy Foundation in memory of his siblings who suffered from Alzheimer's Disease.
David’s family would like to thank Unity Point Allen Hospital for their compassionate care of David during these past several months, Dr Tandon, his Cardiologist, Lisa Mahar, ARNP, Abbie Schrader ARNP, Allen’s Emergency Room, Unity Point Hospice and the 4th floor nursing staff. There were so many incredibly, caring people who helped care for David and our hearts will remember all of you.
