Leonard "Len" Froese

With much love and sadness we announce the passing of Leonard (Len) Froese on Sunday, November 9, 2025 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Leonard, the oldest son of Jacob and Justina Froese was born on May 18, 1946, in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba, Canada. After living in numerous places where his dad pastored, the family moved to Hillsboro, KS in 1967. Shortly after moving there, he met the love of his life, Marlene Schultz in church, and they were married August 9, 1968. In October they moved to Phoenix, AZ to start a new chapter.

Leonard became a naturalized US citizen in 1970. In 1975, they moved to Henderson, NE for 10 years, making many new, good friends. They had two sons, Jonathan and Matthew, who were born there. In 1985, they moved back to Phoenix, until July 2023, when they moved to Cedar Rapids, IA to live near their youngest son and family.

Leonard accepted Jesus as his personal Savior at age 9 with his dad’s help. He had a strong, firm faith in God and a quiet strength and love for family, friends and his church.

He is survived by his dear wife, Marlene Froese of Cedar Rapids, IA;  one son, Matthew Froese (Dawn) of Cedar Rapids, IA; three granddaughters; one great grandson; brother, David Froese from Wichita, KS; and a sister, Viola Froese Smith(Jim) from  Phoenix, AZ; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dennis and Dee Goertzen from Henderson, NE; five nieces, six nephews and many extended family members and good friends. Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, his parents-in-law, son Jonathan Froese, and sister-in-law, Susan Froese.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the  family.
