Richard Gene Harbaugh, age 82, of Guttenberg, IA, passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at his home.

Richard was born September 28, 1942, in Clayton County, IA, the son of Lloyd and Genevieve (Kauffman) Harbaugh. On October 3, 1964, he married Sharon Schroeder at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Guttenberg. Richard was a farmer his whole life. 

Survivors include his three children, Kevin Harbaugh, Craig Harbaugh and Marcia (Mike) Tierney all of Guttenberg, IA; two granddaughters, Brianna Lucey of Garnavillo, IA and Taryn LeGrand of Guttenberg, IA; brother, Gary (Janice) Harbaugh of Coon Valley, WI and brother-in-law, Kenneth (Jody) Schroeder of Guttenberg, IA; sister-in-law, Arlene Harbaugh of Elkader, IA. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Sharon; infant son, Michael Harbaugh; brothers, Llody (Ivanelle) Harbaugh, George Harbaugh, Carrol Harbaugh; sisters, Shirley Mae Berns, Colletta (Lavern) Nieland, Eleanor (Bob) Lewin and Jacquelyn Scherf and brother-in-law, Jerome Schroeder. 

Visitation for Richard will be held on Monday, March 24, 2025, from 9 – 11:00 am at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 203 Pearl St. Guttenberg, IA 52052.

Memorial Service for Richard will be held Monday, March 24, 2025, at 11:00 am at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Guttenberg, IA with Pastor Michael Ashman officiating. Interment of his remains following at Garnavillo Cemetery. A memorial is being established in his name.
