Michael Edward Nydle

Michael Edward Nydle, 73, of Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2025. A Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held later in the Spring.

Born in Ottumwa, Iowa on June 4, 1951, Michael was the son of Edward and Gretta Nydle. He graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1969 and received his pharmacy degree from the University of Iowa. Michael married his college sweetheart Nancy Van Thournout on June 7, 1975. Following a career as a pharmacist in Iowa and New Mexico, Michael moved back to Iowa in retirement to be closer to his grandchildren. Michael loved cheering on the Hawkeyes and Cubs.

Michael is survived by his wife of 49 years, Nancy, of Cedar Rapids; children, Christoper (Emily) Nydle of Cedar Rapids, and Kian Nydle of Albuquerque. He was a proud grandfather to Ainsley, Avery, and Rucker. He also leaves behind a twin sister, Patricia (Steve) Bennett of Pella, and two brothers, Edward (Joan) Nydle and Timothy (Faith) Nydle, both of Ottumwa.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Linda Bingaman.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to The Views of Cedar Rapids, the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Hiawatha Care Center, and Hospice of Mercy.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Michael’s memory to the World Wildlife Fund
