Lynn Diane McDowell
Lynn Diane McDowell, 64, of Edgewood, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a long illness. A Celebration of Life will be planned at a later date this summer.
Survivors include her husband of 32 years, John McDowell, of Edgewood, son, Christopher (Courtney) Hiedemann, of Grimes, daughter, Kelsey Rickard, of Anamosa, her mother, Patricia (Paul) Herboldsheimer, of Anamosa, a brother, Scott (Penni) Arnold, of Mesa, Arizona, grandchildren, Haley, Bentley, Alex, Jackson, and Ainsley, along with numerous cousins.
Lynn was preceded in death by her father, Dean Arnold, and a brother, Larry.
Lynn was born March 6, 1960 in Anamosa, Iowa to Dean and Patricia Arnold. She graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1978. Lynn played basketball and in her junior season, 1977, she earned All Conference honors as a guard. Lynn met the love of life in 1999, John McDowell, and they got married in 2015 in Las Vegas. She enjoying camping, spending time on lakes, loved John Deere tractors, and worked with John in road construction. Her greatest joy was her love of her grandchildren. Lynn will be missed by all that knew and loved her.
Memorial donations may be directed to Camp Courageous, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, or the University of Iowa Children’s Hospital.
