Judith Ann Twite

Judith Ann Twite, 75, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha on March 28, 2025. Born on May 25, 1949, to Minnie (Erma) (Butson) Cooper and Leslie (Pete) Cooper in Blue Earth County, Minnesota, Judy was a beloved mother, grandmother, and sister. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A visitation and memorial service will take place at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids on Monday, April 7. Visitation with family will begin at 10AM, the service will begin at 11AM. Her internment will take place at a later time.

Judy was a person who found great joy in being a grandma. Her warm and caring nature touched the lives of her children, who survive her: Jeni Sundermeyer (Jim) of Pleasant Hill, Keith Twite of Davenport, and Leslie Gartin (Justin) of Marshalltown. She is also survived by her grandsons Dominic, Dempsey, and Dawson Twite. In addition to her children and grandchildren, Judy is survived by her brother Kurt Cooper (Cindy) of O’Fallon, Illinois and leaves behind numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Her memory will be forever cherished by all. 

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Minnie (Butson) Cooper and Leslie Cooper; and her nephew Mike Cooper.

Following her secondary education in Silver Bay, Minnesota, Judy received a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Elementary Education from Bemidji State University. She married Donald Twite in Mineral Springs, Minnesota, on April 8, 1972. Their marriage later ended in divorce.

Judith and Donald relocated to Cedar Rapids, Iowa where she held many roles, including homemaker, daycare provider for the neighborhood children as her own kids grew up. She later worked at FirstStar bank, Aegon, and as a customer service representative for the Lil’ Drug Store company until her retirement in 2015.

Judy was an avid church-goer through her life and was a 40-year member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. Her spirituality provided her with strength throughout her life, as well as giving her lifelong friendships. In her leisure time Judy enjoyed knitting, crafts, and spending quality time with her grandkids. She also found great pleasure in reading.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Oldorf Hospice House, 315 18th Avenue, Hiawatha, Iowa 52233.
