Bruce Douglas Straub
Bruce Douglas Straub, 65, of Shellsburg, passed away, June 12, 2025. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, June 21, 2025, at The Church of Grace, 301 Grove St. NW, Shellsburg, IA 52332.
Bruce was born on October 23, 1959, in Maquoketa, IA, the son of Paul D. Straub and Wanda Lee (Rich) Blake. He graduated from Cedar Rapids Kennedy High School in 1979. Bruce married Delores Rosemarie Miller on September 15, 1990, at Cedar Rapids, IA. He had worked as a tree trimmer for Asplundh Tree Expert Company. Bruce loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and mushroom hunting. His family will remember his gentle teasing and his know-it-all approach to crossword puzzles. Bruce was also a loving grandfather and great-grandfather.
Survivors include his wife of thirty-four years, Delores of Shellsburg; stepdaughter, Jeannie Hinricks of Shellsburg; daughters, Susan (Dan) Squires of Davenport and Jessica (Rogelio) Morales of Iowa City; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Pam Straub of Marion.
Preceding him in death were his parents; and daughter, Sheely O’Dell.
