Harry Leslie Cline

Harry Leslie Cline, 94, of Elgin, Iowa passed away peacefully with his family by his side on July 14, 2025 at the Gundersen Palmer Lutheran Hospital in West Union, Iowa. He was born August 15, 1930 at the West Union Hospital. He was the middle son of Harry and Pauline (Tiffany) Cline. During his youth, the family lived on a farm east of West Union. Harry graduated from West Union High School in 1948. 

On March 25, 1951, he was united in marriage to Marlys Cecelia Wenger at St. Paul’s Methodist Church, Elgin, Iowa. Together they farmed one mile south of Elgin where they raised three children Jeffrey, Michael, and Stacey.

Harry was a farmer throughout his life. In early years, he milked purebred Jersey cows, later adding hogs and an Angus cow-calf herd. Harry and Marlys enjoyed 52 years together raising their family, traveling, and engaging in community activities before Marlys passed away in 2003.

On July 2, 2005, Harry married Pat Schultz at the St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Elgin, Iowa.

Harry enjoyed traveling to Florida for many winters, golfing, bowling, socializing with friends, and most of all his family. He was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Elgin Lions Club, Masonic Lodge, Elgin State Bank Board of Directors, and the Iowa Cattlemen Association. 

Harry was preceded in death by his first wife Marlys Cline, his second wife Pat (Schultz) Cline, his parents Harry and Pauline Cline, brother and sister-in-law Robert T. and Vernetta Cline, stepsons G. Wyatt Schultz, and Stuart Schultz.

Surviving Harry are his sons Jeffrey (Leanne) Cline and Michael (Linda) Cline of Elgin, Iowa, daughter Stacey (Mick) Mack of Waverly, Iowa, seven grandchildren Lucas (Hope) Cline, Kate (Chris) Miller, Ryan (Jane) Cline, Cody (Stacy) Cline, Christy (Tyler) Amundson, Dustin (Chelsey) Mack, Lindsey (Ryan) Fonkert, and 19 great-children. He is also survived by his brother, Gerald (Maria) Cline of West Des Moines, Iowa, his brother-in-law Stanley Wenger of Surprise, AZ, stepsons Brad (Paulette) Schultz of Grimes, Iowa, Larry (Dianne) Schultz and Daryl (Dolly) Schultz of Postville, Iowa, step daughters-in-law, Kristen Schultz (G. Wyatt) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Cindy Schultz (Stuart) of Postville, Iowa. 

Visitation will be held at the church on Sunday, July 27th from 3:00-5:00 P.M. concluding with a Masonic Lodge service. A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Elgin, Iowa on Monday, July 28th at 2:00 P.M. A private interment will take place at the Elgin Cemetery in Elgin, Iowa following the service.
