Claude “CR” Woodruff, age 84, of Evansdale, IA passed away Tuesday, July 29th at home.
He was born on Algoa, Arkansas, on August 24, 1940, to the late Benjamin Owen and Leander “Hanner” Bearden Woodruff.
He is survived by a son, Tony, a daughter, Tonya (Kent) Smith, grandchildren, Trisha (Mike) Weisert, Tara Smith (Corey Frickson), Austin (Jaycie) Goddard, Kody Smith (Veronica Coghlan), great grandkids, Ivory, Kingstin, Daxton, Adilynn, Hayes, and Kobe, a sister, Bonnie (Donald) Welch and many nieces and nephews.
He is proceeded in death by his parents, his sisters, Francis Bridgeman, Beatrice Moody, Alice Fern Barker, and his longtime companion, Mel Pierce.
He was known to many as a jack of all trades who would help out with any project you had. He enjoyed spending his free time at the casino and with his family. His grandkids and great grandkids all call him Grandpa Woody and he is considered a legend with a sweet southern draw in this family.
A celebration of life is being planned and will be announced shortly.
