Linda Lomheim

Linda Lomheim (Johnson), 65, of Iowa City, Iowa, peacefully passed away on January 10th, 2025, after a brief battle with cancer, surrounded by her beloved husband and children.

Linda was born on May 30th, 1959, in Watertown, South Dakota, and from the time she arrived there was never a dull moment. Linda was a firecracker who lived life on her own terms – boldly and unapologetically – and her spark lit up every room she entered.

Linda’s free-spirited nature extended to everyone she met – she was devoted to her friends and family and treated strangers like old pals. Linda didn’t take life too seriously and left a trail of laughter, love, and a bit of trouble everywhere she went.

Linda lived for adventure whether it was taking a spontaneous road trip, having a dance party in her kitchen, staying up late talking with friends, or sitting in her hot tub. She had a knack for finding beauty and joy in imperfection, she stood up for the underdogs, was loyal and generous to her core, and never met a rule she couldn’t bend a little.

As a mother, Linda was unorthodox and loving. She raised her kids with the same unconventional spirit that defined her own life, teaching them to stand up for themselves, embrace their individuality, and to never take “no” for an answer if it didn’t feel right. She was their fiercest supporter, and the first one to tell them to “go for it” – no matter what “it” was.

Linda is survived by Gary, her husband of 45 years, their children Jessica, Jennifer (David) Sieveking, Jamie (Conor) Lefebvre, Joseph (Rachel), and her favorite people on the planet – grandchildren Ramona, Theodore, and Cy.

She is also survived by countless family members and friends who will always remember her wild stories, her contagious laugh, and her insistence that, “you’re never too old to have a little fun.”

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Lucy Johnson, mother-in-law Mary Jean Lomheim, numerous grandparents, aunts, uncles, and extended family members.

Linda’s fire burned brightly and though she is gone, her spark will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew her. A celebration of life and memorial service for Linda will be forthcoming.
