Joanne was born on February 12th, 1938, to Harold and Helen (Harbaugh) Hansel in Iowa City, IA. Our mother loved nature and was known for talking to the wild birds on the farm. She also loved the toads around the farm and would gently give them scratches on their backs. She loved animals, especially her horse Rusty. In addition, she enjoyed flowers, and her entire farm was garnished with an abundance of flowers. Most of all she loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the love of her life Bert.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Helen Hansel; her spouses, Gary Elledge, Clement Sullivan Sr., and Richard Palmer; her stepson Steven Hoffman; her grandson Gary Ross; and her siblings: Junior Hansel, Donna (Arnold)Holthaus and Kenneth Hansel.

Joanne is survived by the love of her life and her husband of forty years, Bertram Hoffman; her children Victoria (Keevin)Bond, Clement (Stacie)Sullivan, Thomas (Christal)Sullivan, and her very special stepson Clyde (Sue)Palmer; her other stepchildren Jenise(Jeff)White, Shelly(Steve)Helle, Lori Ingles, and Mike (Peg)Hoffman; her grandchildren April (Nakia)Riggins, Brandy Seibert, Travis(Tiffany)Bond, Lucas Sullivan, Ashlee Lincoln, Heather Sullivan, Lacey (Sonny Penney)Sullivan, Abbie (Aaron Kloser)Sullivan, Jacob (Sarah)Palmer, and Jill(Zach)Marman; sixteen great-grandchildren; fifteen step-grandchildren and twenty-three step great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Joanne Hansel, Pat Drumbarger, Shirley Elledge, Donna Belle Elledge, and many nieces and nephews.
