Elsie M. Walker

With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Elsie M. Walker at her home on January 8, 2025, surrounded by love.

Born on November 18, 1936, Elsie was the beloved daughter of James and Florence (Court) Dilts. She dedicated many years of work Casey’s General Store in Wapello, the Sub Station Restaurant and later at Louisa Publishing, where her kindness and warmth left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

Family was at the heart of everything Elsie did. She treasured every moment spent with her loved ones, providing unconditional love, wisdom, and support to each of them.

Elsie is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Robin (James) Brown; her grandchildren, Wendy Wiley, Stephanie (Shane) Lathrop, and Jamie Brown; her great grandchildren, Chase Brown,  Kaylee (Cole) Gross, Jared Wiley, Kaitlyn Lathrop, Jayden Wiley, Jaelynn Wiley, Teagan Brown, and Easton Drayfahl; great great grandchildren, Laubrey and Tillie Gross;  her sister, Shirley Cupps; and her best friend, Carol Hall.

Elsie was proceeded in death by son, Kirk Walker, and many other loved ones.

Fulfilling Elsie’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral services. Instead, she would want those who knew her to raise a Busch Light in her honor and share stories of the wonderful memories made with her.

Elsie’s vibrant spirit and boundless love will be deeply missed but forever cherished in the hearts of her family and friends.
