Alice Faye Magnussen
Alice Faye Magnussen, 89, of Grimes, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at Bishop Drumm Retirement Center in Johnston, from Congestive Heart Failure. An informal celebration of life will take place on Saturday, April 19, from 12 p.m. - 3 p.m. at Luther Memorial Church’s Lykke Center (Fellowship Hall), 1201 Grandview Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa.
Alice, daughter of Freddie (Marion Frederick) and Cecil May (Sanders) Kibler, was born November 11, 1935, in Rose Hill, Iowa. She graduated from Rose Hill High School in 1954. On November 9, 1957, she married K Utterback. To this union, a daughter, Diane, was born. K and Alice divorced in 1977. On September 14, 1984, Alice married Karl Magnussen. They made their home in Grimes, Iowa, and spent summers in Kabetogama, Minnesota after retirement. Alice retired from Preferred Risk (now Guide One) Insurance in 1999 after 20 years of employment. Alice enjoyed working on puzzles and reading.
Alice is survived by her loving husband Karl, two sisters, Betty and Mary Margaret (Midge), two brothers, Sam and Steve, her daughter Diane (Dan) Jespersen, her granddaughter, Kelsey (Brian) Oswald and great-grandchildren Conner and Jensen. She is also survived by stepchildren, Karla Kommes, Jamie Turner, John (Jana) Magnussen, and Kent (Shari) Magnussen, step grandchildren Isaac, Chelsi, Justin, Early, Cheyenne, Charles, Corey, Staci, Josh, Zach, and Courtney, and 15 step great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Charles, and stepdaughter Linda (Rick) Bybee.
