Keith O. Dorenkamper, 76, of West Burlington, IA, passed away on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at his daughter’s home in North Liberty, IA, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born on October 22, 1949, in Tyler, MN, to Lawrence and Pearl Dorenkamper, Keith married Monica Van Overbeke on November 6, 1971, in Ivanhoe, MN.
Keith graduated from Ivanhoe High School and earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from Morehead State University. He later earned a master’s degree in Administration from Northeast Missouri State University.
Keith served in the United States National Guard for 12 years. He spent 39 years teaching at the Burlington Community School District, where he taught Graphic Design and Industrial Technology before retiring in 2012. He was also the manager of the West Burlington city pool for many years. In his free time, Keith enjoyed building and refurbishing furniture for his family, gardening, working outside, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He was a member of Divine Mercy Catholic Parish.
Keith is survived by his wife, Monica, of 54 years; his daughters Heidi (Justin) Andersen of Indianola, IA, and Stacey (Paul) Dorman of North Liberty, IA; and three grandchildren: Sophie Andersen, Riley Dorman, and Seaver Dorman. He is also survived by his siblings: Karen Lingen of Ruthton, MN; twin sister Kaleen Rybinski of Hendricks, MN; Rollyn Dorenkamper of Minneota, MN; and Larry Dorenkamper of Ivanhoe, MN. Additional survivors include Mary Dwire, Greg and Shirley Van Overbeke, and Lenny and Pam Van Overbeke, all of MN, as well as many nieces and nephews. Keith was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Carolyn, his mother and father-in-law, and several brothers and sisters-in-law.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to honor Keith’s memory.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN) or consider becoming a volunteer driver for the American Cancer Society for those undergoing cancer treatments.
