Anna Kay Thompson

Anna Kay Sanderson Thompson, daughter of Leonard Virgil and Elsie Charlotte Sanderson was born January 19, 1939, in Shannon City, Iowa. She graduated from New Virginia Community School in 1957.

On May 17, 1957, Anna married Edward LeRoy Thompson at Osceola Methodist Church. Anna worked for several insurance companies, the government, and as a bookkeeper for Hawkeye Lumber. In 1971, she helped run Thompson Standard until 1983. She then worked for Guideone for 5 years, Great Plain Gas for 2 years, then ran Iowa Realty until 1991 as a broker. She moved to Creston and ran Thompson Furniture until retirement.

Anna was a member of Crest Baptist Church. She is survived by her daughters, Myrna (Millard) Murphy and Lurae Zavalla; son, Eric Thompson; 7 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; sister, Carolyn (Ray) Houston; and brother, Eldon Sanderson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Elsie, and husband, Edward.
