Adam Joshua Meseke
Adam Joshua Meseke, 51, of Gilbert, Iowa passed away on Sunday, December 28, 2025 at Rolling Green Village Specialty Care Center in Nevada, Iowa after a 12 yearlong battle with advanced kidney cancer.
Adam was born on October 29, 1974 in Columbus, Ohio. Son of Ronald Meseke and Barbara (Tarvin) Brunkan.
Adam graduated from Iowa State University with his master’s degree in Archaeology. He was very proud of his long list of publications throughout his archaeological career.
Adam was a life-long Cincinnati Reds fan and loved watching baseball. After his diagnosis, Adam spent much of his time coaching soccer for both his children and their friends. It was his greatest passion and he was an amazing coach! He also co-wrote a book with colleagues titled “In Praise of Biblical Illiteracy: And Other Ethical Questions on the Bible, Religion and Politics – Hector Avalos” which will be released March 2026. I wish he would have been here to see it.
Adam is survived by his wife of 27 years, Jennifer (Paulsen) Meseke, daughter Madeline (Ben) Meseke of Ely, Minnesota and son Erik Meseke still at home attending ISU in Gilbert, Iowa. He is also survived by his brothers Chris (Jamie) Meseke, Zac (Liza) Meseke, Tyler Meseke, sister Morgan (Aaron) Skopec-Meseke, and mother Barbara (William) Brunkan. Paul (Andrea) Robertson, Jeremy (Mel) Osborne, Owen (Kristy) Reece and Janine Putnam are Adam’s best friends and part of the family.
Adam was preceded in death by his father Ronald Meseke, nephew Lars Meseke-Wren, grandparents Gene (Dorothy) Tarvin and Norman (Irene) Meseke.
