Ronald Ellis Loftsgard

Ronald Ellis Loftsgard, 88, passed away with his family by his side on August 9th, 2025, after a brief illness.  

Ronald was born on December 19th, 1936, to Gilbert and Bessie Loftsgard.  

He is survived by his son, Drew A. Loftsgard (Kristin), grandchildren, Michael Loftsgard (Meca), Kaylee Lau, Shawn Lau, Timothy Brainard (Krissy), Ashley Briggs (James), Abbey White and Cassidi Curry, as well as many great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  

He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy, son, David, daughter, Debra, as well as four siblings and his parents.  

Ron grew up on the family farm.  Graduated from Elgin High School in 1954 and met and married the love of his life Judy Nims on March 23, 1958, with three children to follow. He took a job with Fauser Dx Station until 1966 when he took a job with Valley Coop, then worked for his father in-law, Glenn Nims, at Riverside truckline for two years then returned to Valley Coop where he retired after 33 years and decided to take a job with Bakers until 2013 when he fully retired.  

Ron loved racing stock cars in West Union, his Hawkeye football, traveling and spending time with family and friends.  

Services will be at Marion Lutheran Church in Gunder, Iowa on September 6th, 11:30 am -12:30 pm visitation, with 12:45 pm services to follow. Please join family and friends for a meal following.
