Patricia “Pat” Lillian Koppes departed this life on August 5, 2025, in Hiawatha, Iowa, at the age of 88. Born on November 4, 1936, in Glen Haven, Wisconsin, Pat was the beloved daughter of William Anthony Bierman and Celia Elizabeth (Breuer) Bierman.
Pat's journey through life was highlighted by her unwavering dedication to her family. She married her beloved husband, Ronald Herbert Koppes, on August 5, 1961, in Dubuque, Iowa. Pat was a proud and loving mother to her daughter, Kim, and an adoring grandmother to her granddaughters, Lily and Abby. Her family brought her immense joy, especially during the times she watched over her granddaughters.
Pat found joy in knitting baby hats and blankets for donations to hospitals. She also made hundreds of personalized crocheted name doilies that celebrated family names. The holiday season was especially dear to her heart, as she delighted in baking Christmas goodies and celebrating with her family. She was deeply committed to her Catholic faith. Pat found joy in simple pleasures, such as playing bingo and spending time with her loved ones.
Her memory will live on through her daughter Kim (Bryan) Albers, and her adored granddaughters, Lily, and Abby; Siblings, Clarence (Carolyn) Bierman, Karen Sommers, Sharon Ritcher, Beverly (Thomas) Pitz; Brother-in-Law, Jim (Dianne) Koppes and many nieces and nephews.
Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Herbert Koppes; her parents, William, and Celia Bierman; and her sisters, Marjorie Ann Blitgen and Carol C. Michels.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Patricia's life during her Funeral Mass, which will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, located at 20249 St Joseph's Dr, Durango, IA 52039, on Saturday August 9, 2025. Visitation begins at 09:30 AM, followed by Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM. The burial will immediately follow Mass.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. A Memorial in Pat’s honor will be made to Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy.
