Abe "Eugene" Don Stirling

Abe (Eugene) Don Stirling, 68, of Allison, IA, passed away on August 2nd, 2025, at his home in Allison.

Abe was born on February 12th, 1957, to Dallas Eugene and Dorothy Marie (Youngberg) Stirling in Waverly, IA. He attended Clarksville schools and graduated in 1975.

Abe worked for Butler County Rural Electric Company starting in 1992 and retired in 2024. He was a lineman, a crew chief, and in Member Services. He absolutely loved it! He loved to watch football and was an avid Raiders fan, though he got a lot quieter about them in the last few seasons. During retirement he made sure to enjoy as much time as he could hunting and fishing with his boys and his grandkids. If you asked him, he would tell you numerous stories – including how he could do a 360 on the ground and successfully shoot a pheasant. Abe’s grandkids were his pride and joy. He did his best to make sure he was at every event of theirs that he could be – from pig shows, softball games, volleyball matches to wrestling and more!

Abe’s memory is honored by: his boys, Michael (Angie Groen) Stirling of Allison, Iowa, Trent (Jordan) Stirling of Allison, Iowa and Brett (Marisa) Stirling of Allison, Iowa; his 13 grandchildren, Lilly and Lola Stirling, Macy, Molli, Colt and Tate Stirling, Austen and Brody Stirling and Kenzie, Kamri, Kilee, Kori, and Kreyton Groen; his brother, Ted (Marlene) Stirling; sisters, Vicki Johnson and Kim Sherburne; sister-in-law, Deb Stirling; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was proceeded in death by: his parents, Dallas and Dorothy Stirling; brothers, Jerry and Stan Stirling; sister-in-law, Lonna Stirling; brothers-in-law, Dave Johnson and Jeff Sherburne; and the “greatest dog ever”, Duke.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Allison Amvets on Saturday, August 23rd from 4-6pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
