Walter “Wink” Winkowski

Walt (Wink) was a man of great wit and wisdom. Experience, he could look at a problem and analyze and come up with a solution. Wink is a man I will never be able to forget. He is a man that I will be blessed to have known. He is a man when shaking a hand will have been the best handful I have ever had. If we didn’t get to know Wink, we have missed out. Walt, you will be missed.

My condolences to Susie and Family. He's always part of my life. Cool teach and my spot at FP was the science lab. Was thinking about him this week, along with my Dad, missing them.

Besides the science experiences in the class room and in my oil refining career as a chemical engineer, I wish to thank Susie for allowing me to talk with Wink at the Wink's Woods anniverary last year. It was great to reminisce about the high school days and thank him for all that he taught me. I knew it would be fun when he set off the hydrogen and oxygen mixture in the Coke bottle the very first day of Chemistry class.

My sincere condolences. Wink gave me a place to call home in high school. Not only in his classes but as his chemistry assistant, photo lab, video club and more. I probably spent 3 hours a day in his classroom or lab. Outside of school I considered him to be a good friend babysitting for the family, building a hang glider out of pvc and plastic or hanging out watching Johnny Carson. As an adult, I enjoyed seeing his latest craft projects and just sitting back and relaxing with him. His quick wit and easy laugh made him such a joy to be around. He will always hold a special place in my heart.

Please accept my sincerest condolences. I was one of Winks chemistry and physics students from 1974 and ‘75. He made science fun for me and was instrumental in my decision to pursue a career in engineering. He allowed us to break little rules that made us feel mature while testing the boundaries and yet being guided by an adult (just barely) hand. I believe that he had similar affect on many of my contemporaries. He was a life changer. May he rest in peace.

My condolences to the family. Walt taught with my Dad for many years and they became very good friends. I, too, taught with Walt during his last 6 years. I very much enjoyed spending time with him and learned a lot from Walt. I appreciate what Walt accomplished as a teacher, friend and community member. RIP

Mr Winkowski was an enthusiastic science teacher which made his classes fun and interesting. He also was our adult ski club parent who arranged a lot of fun ski trips that I'll always remember. He was an all-around good guy who had a positive influence on many of us kids back in the day....(1975 graduate). My sympathies to Suzie and all his family and friends. R.I.P. Mr Winkowski
