Ronald Andresen

Ronald Andresen, 89 years young, of Clinton, Iowa, peacefully passed on from this world April 2, 2025, in Davenport, Iowa.

Ron was born in Clinton, Iowa to William and Betty (Beane) Andresen. He graduated from Clinton High School and went on to serve as a Navigator in the US Airforce. After proudly serving his country, Ron returned and attended Clinton Community College. He found his lifetime career at DuPont where he retired after 35 years.

He married Verna Lea McNulty and spent almost 25 years sharing their great love for one another, their dreams and created precious lifelong memories. Verna passed away in 1982.

Ron so very much loved his family, including his 4-legged children. He was a very passionate gardener even becoming a Master Gardener through Iowa State University. Another passion of Ron’s was decades of researching genealogy where he shared stories and information with all that were interested.

As a proud Clintonian, Ron served his community as a councilman and councilman-at-large for over 10 years. He was a member, volunteer and board member with the Clinton Historical Society. Ron was a member of the Jackson County Historical Society. He volunteered with Meals on Wheels, Trees Forever, and sat on many boards including the Clinton Library Board. Ron belonged to a Garden Club and a Pond Club in Davenport, Iowa, was a member of the Quad City Photography Club and a member of “Friends of Vanderveer”. Ron and Verna were active in local, state, and national politics for many years.

Ron is survived by his children whom he dearly loved; Mark (Hope) Andresen of Rock Hills, SC, Teresa Andresen of Davenport, IA, Aaron Andresen of Clinton, IA, and Kevin Andresen Sr. of Preston, IA; his sister Cindy (John) Rinderknecht of Homer, AK and his brother John Andresen of Clinton, IA. Ron was an extremely proud grandfather of 6 fantastic grandchildren and a very blessed great-grandfather of 6 cherished great-grandchildren with another on the way, as well as 13 crazy fun nieces and nephews. He also left behind many phenomenal friends.

Ron was preceded in death by his beloved wife, parents, father and mother in-law and sister, Patricia Andresen.

Ron was a bright light in the lives of many and he will be greatly missed. A future service is being planned; in lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Clinton Historical Society and the Bickelhaupt Arboretum. God’s speed Ron.
